The Number One Trait to be a Successful Realtor

Gumption.

Oxford Languages define Gumption: shrewd or spirited initiative and resourcefulness.

It can be called a lot of different things. Stick-to-it-tive-ness. Grit. Passion. Go-getter. But, at the end of the day the sentiment is all the same. A successful real estate agent must show initiative and follow through.

As an independent contractor you are responsible for you. You're not an employee that has quotas and projects assigned to you. You have to create your own business activities. From scratch. Every day.

To build trust in potential clients, you must be responsive and do what you say you'll do. Procrastination is a killer. Since this business is all about building long term success and referrals, you can't push off lead generating activities. I've seen it so many times where someone will "start working on that" in the New Year or after my vacation in a few months. There is no time like the present! Start today even if it's a tiny bit and continue after your set timeframe. Every little bit matters and consistency is key.

What if you feel you have the drive, but don't know what to do? Now, that is a very solvable problem! Aligning yourself with an experienced and knowledgable broker is a great way to streamline your efforts into activities that will show a strong return on your investment of time, energy, and even money. Not knowing what to do is not nearly as limiting as not having the willingness to do it! At Bungalow Realty, we pride ourselves on our creative focused mentoring and coaching by finding solutions for your business that you can and will actually accomplish. We want you to be successful. We believe, the better the individual Realtor, the better the entire industry can become.

If you think you have what it takes and all you need is a little direction, we'd love to hear from you!
